Chapter 4. The ocean was calling.

Stephanies Ocean Spa opened in 2010 and is located in the heart of cosmopolitan Noosa at the new Outrigger Little Hastings Street Resort & Spa. A leisurely stroll to the designer boutiques and culinary delights of Noosa’s famed Hastings Street and an easy drive north of Brisbane, the spa is the perfect excuse to enjoy a relaxing getaway to the Sunshine Coast.

Stephanies Ocean Spa is the largest in the group, spanning more than 450 square metres and boasting 11 magnificent treatment rooms including couples suites, a triple treatment suite with private floatation pool and a rain therapy vichy shower, complete with a stunning hand crafted acacia cedar shower bed.

“The architectural design of the Noosa spa allowed us to create a variety of treatment spaces, from private garden suites to geisha hydro baths, floatation pools and comfortable group domains”, says Shepherd.

“It’s important to offer the basics in spa therapy as well as introduce new and amazing treatments for our clients to experience”.

True to her word, the various spa menus incorporate everyday beauty therapies and unique treatments, such as anti aging vino therapies and the amazing health benefits of the mineral colour therapy floatation pool.

Tranquil Lounge - Ocean Spa

By Susan Kurosawa

Noosa’s Outrigger Little Hastings Street Resort & Spa is not the easiest place to find. There are two entrances, at either end of a sprawling estate, and the three people I stop to ask for directions give me wildly different replies. I am running late for an appointment at Stephanies Ocean Spa. A serene Robin answers my frantic call and beams me in. Then it takes less than five minutes to totally relax at this 11-suite haven, which has all of the wellness world’s must-haves, from a flotation pool to Vichy showers that rinse and refresh urban-lagged clients as they lie on an acacia cedar platform bed. A Shiro-abhyanga head massage, based on Ayurvedic principles, seems the shot or massages with hot stones or herbal poultices. The Sole Suite is fun to book for mani-pedi parties and the relaxation lounge (pictured) is a lovely spot to loll, with a Berry Boost tea to hand, full of antioxidants. Spa owner Stephanie Shepherd started her career with a two-room salon and now runs four day spas in Queensland, including an award-winning retreat at Sofitel Brisbane and, in the Brisbane suburb of Cleveland, the Vintage Spa in an 1852 Queenslander with heritage features and shabby chic interiors. I have been in safe hands – my drive back to Noosa proper is a much calmer proposition. More:
